Bridget McGee, a puppy we bred, turns 13 next week (July 8, 2009). As so often happens with elder dogs, Bridget lives with a variety of medical conditions. Perhaps the most challenging for Mom and Dad - Laurie and Jim - is Bridget’s blindness.
So devoted are Laurie and Jim that they have modified their home to make sure Bridget doesn’t bump into things or tumble down stairs. Laurie was kind enough to tell us about Blind Dogs.net, an online resource for “seeing-eye people.” In addition to Blind Dog Stories, you will find tips about caring for your blind pet, links to veterinary eye specialists, and other important resources.
If your pet is getting on in years and has some degree of vision impairment, you might want to visit Blind Dogs.net. Realize that there is a lot support on the Internet for those of us who have toy poodles who are blind from cataracts, disease, old age, or accidents.
Read Bridget’s Story on Blind Dogs.net.
Until next time,
Mr. Dibs (Bridget McGee’s younger cousin)
